Police have announced that there was a generally peaceful crossover into the year 2020  reported all over to the Kampala Metropolitan areas.

Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson has indicated that there was a widely peaceful crossover, save for isolated cases in which lives were lost.

He says a total of five deaths were registered on New Year’s night, alongside one suspected kidnap and one fire outbreak.

Police discovered a harshly injured lifeless body on Wednesday of one businesswoman called Grace Nakalezi believed to have been killed by unknown people on her way home in Kajjansi. The body had multiple deep cuts on the leg.

Another death was reported by a one Pastor Hassan Sekyanzi of an unidentified male body who was killed from elsewhere and later dumped on the veranda of the pastor’s home.

There was also another incident reported of a hit and run accident involving Frank Bamuhiarwe a Boda-boda rider who was knocked dead by an unknown person. Police say they will review footage of the area and see how to capture the hit and run driver.

Police are also investigating the suspected kidnap of one Sabila Bugembe, a resident of Naalya. Also being investigated is a fire outbreak at the residence of Justine Nakazzi in Mulago II Parish in which several properties were razed to ashes.
