226 suspected thugs spent the New Year’s Day in police cells after Police mounted an operation that saw them were arrested for criminal activities.
According to Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson the alleged perpetrators were picked up from the various Divisions of Kampala on the New Year’s Day celebrations.
Onyango says these shady people were involved in criminal pursuits including, pocketing and waylaying unsuspecting people on their way back home from the celebrations.
Onyango some of the accused were seized from Nakulabye in the areas of Makerere Kikoni and Kasubi and this was after police officers alerted the nearest Local Defence Unit.
Onyango also said one unidentified suspect was shot dead in Nakulabye during the process of the arrest while another was killed from Lower Nsooba in Kyebando whilst trying to resist arrest.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police mouthpiece also explained that two innocent people identified as Caroline Lenya and Mbogo Abdu were injured by stray bullets and rushed to hospital where they are currently nursing bullet injuries.
