Police in Kampala have in custody one Man accused of trading in suspected stolen items. The incident took place on Thursday in the Rubaga division.
The stolen items include 28 NIRA stolen cameras, 18 laptops, and other related accessories.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owesigirye, the suspect identified as Suleiman Semakkade 25yrs, resident of Rubaga Division in Kampala was intercepted after a tipoff from residents that he was busy searching for a ready market for the stolen items.
Owesigirye says Police immediately swung into action and seized the suspected criminal alongside the items in his possession.
He says Semakkade confessed to stealing the items from the Nira offices in Kyankwanzi on the 31st December 2019 and a case of theft in that regard was already reported at the Police post at kyankwanzi vide CRB 724/2019.
Owesigirye notes that Semakkade will be referred to Kyankwanzi police to continue with investigations into the matter before being arraigned in courts of law.
