Police in Wandegeya is investigating circumstances under which one Tamale was short and is nursing injuries at Mulago Hospital.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owesigirye says preliminary investigations indicate that Tamale terrorized the home of one Asimwe Shakira in Makerere, Kikoni where he has been a regular visitor with a hammer, he assaulted Shakira’s cousin before destroying her household property under unclear circumstances.
Owesigirye says the police were informed of the incident and rushed to the scene but failed to calm him down forcing the police officer in charge to shoot at him so as to disarm him.
Owesigirye says Police also plans to conduct medical tests on Tamale to ascertain his mental state considering that he has a history of being mentally impaired.
Police have slapped charges of assault and malicious damage against Tamale and have also forwarded his files to the Resident State Attorney for advice.
