Two Male security guards at St Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum, Kitgum municipality have ruthlessly gunned down a mentally derailed LCI Chairperson for yelling and running around the hospital premises.
Qunito Opira 53 the LC1 Parakaka village, Latanya Sub County in Pader district was purportedly shot dead at about 6 pm Thursday evening by security guards attached to Centurian Security Ltd who were operating at the facility.
The Kitgum Resident District Commissioner William Komakech says the deceased had been admitted at the hospital on Monday after suffering a mental illness.
Komackech says the deceased while at the hospital started running around like a raving lunatic screaming uncontrollably and the guards on duty chose to shoot him dead.
“The deceased reportedly started running around the hospital premises and heading towards the staffs’ quarter this evening while shouting Jesus, the devil is greater than you. The two guards on duty however responded by firing at Opira killing him instantly”
The guards irresponsibly fired four shots at the deceased but only one bullet to the chest killed him on spot.
The security guards were arrested and are currently being detained at Kitgum central police station pending investigation.
