Police have issued new charges of attempted murder against the Lwemiyaga County Member of Parliament of Theodore Ssekikubo.
On Friday last week, the Legislator was intercepted at an open cattle market where cattle farmers were protesting a government quarantine due to the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD). He was arrested on charges of or inciting violence and malicious damage of property.
However, on Sunday evening police added attempted murder to the charge sheet, dating back to a 2010 accident.
During the 2010 National Resistance Movement-NRM party primaries, Ssekikubo reportedly shot Habibu Nsamba Kanyarutokye, a security operative, when he protested what he described as attempts to rig him out of the polls.
