Residents on Monday evening rescued a man in the Kampala suburb of Kamwokya, Church Zone after he attempted to roast himself to death.
The man only identified as Juma reportedly cordoned off his rented room before thoughtlessly lighting it up in protest of his cheating wife.
However, he was rescued by area residents who noticed heavy smoke coming out of his house and rushed to help him.
According to eyewitnesses at the scene what started as smoke emanating from the house soon became huge flames of fire causing a lot of panic.
Juma told residents after being rescued from the burning house that he caught his wife, Eseza Kusasira red-handed in bed with another, which prompted him want to end his life.
It’s at that moment that they discovered that Juma had locked himself inside the house and started efforts to save him.
Juma’s wife, Eseza Kusasira rejected the allegations of cheating on him saying at the time she got another man, they had long separated with Juma .
Eseza also accused her ex of being violent and beating always.
Both Eseza and Juma were taken to Kamwokya police post to record statements.
