Police in Bulanbuli district has put behind bars a woman accused of killing her husband and throwing away his body in a pit latrine over a domestic brawl.

Joan Muzaki 48, a resident of Kidega Village in Simu Sub County is alleged to have murdered her 60year old husband identified as  Lawrence Magona on October 9th, 2019 in Bulambuli district.

Preliminary findings indicate that the couple disagreed over sex. The deceased demanded to have sex with his wife claiming she had denied him this pleasure for 10 months in a row.

Muzaki reportedly refused to have sex with her husband after he tested positive for HIV yet she was negative.

John Robert Tukei, the Elgon Region Spokesperson says that Muzakhi was arrested on Sunday evening after the deceased’s relatives filed a complaint with police demanding to know his whereabouts.

According to Tukei, Muzakhi confessed to having killed her husband after he attempted to forcefully have sex with her. She claims to have hit him hard with a hoe on the head causing him to bleed profusely to death.

In an attempt to conceal information, Muzakhi dumped the deceased’s body in a pit latrine, 50meters away from their home and locked it.

She then lied to her children that their father was away in Kenya for a visit and that she had closed the latrine because of a big snake.

Police retrieved Magona’s body from the pit latrine on Monday and took it to Mbale Mbale regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.
