Kampala Metropolitan Police are still pending investigations into circumstances that led to the collapse of a building under construction at kansanga church zone last week that claimed the lives of six people.
According to the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango the landlord of the building identified as katongole Umaru and his engineers who were reportedly on-site at the time of the unfortunate incident have since gone missing and are still at large.
Onyango says police are also waiting for a report from the technical team that involves KCCA officials and engineers before they can conclude the investigations.
Last week on Wednesday afternoon there was panic among the public along Mitala road when a building supported by concrete poles suddenly fell in burying and killing six builders on spot.
By the time Police arrived at the scene, the engineers had already fled the site making it difficult to identify the Owner and any other details.
However, Musa Amuru, one of the eight survivors said he was standing outside the building when he witnessed the soil cave-in abruptly on the six leaving no room for escape.
Hassan Kyanda, the Deputy Director of Fire Safety and Emergency Services, identified the deceased as Martin Owori, Robert Okech, James Ochwo, Nicholas Ocheng, Joseph Oburu, and Etiang Okong.
