Police in Kabale district has caged three suspected thugs have been arrested for illegally entering a church and stealing property worth shillings 10 million.
The suspects include Joel Ahimbisibwe, 20, a resident of Rwambogo village, Gideon Niwaha, 20, a Boda Boda cyclist and a resident Kamabale cell in Buhara Sub County and Methodius Ngabirano, 25, a driver and resident of Buranga village in Kamuganguzi Sub County, Kabale district.
According to Rev.Fr. Austin Christmas, the trio reportedly stormed Buhara Catholic Parish Church in Kabale diocese on the night on January 17, 2020 while people were absent and made off with 3 loudspeakers, an amplifier, mixer stabilizer, a pair of mobile microphones, a microphone receiver, wires, among others and an unspecified amount of offertory money.
Elly Maate, police spokesperson for Kigezi region says the thugs were captured on Thursday following a tip-off from a good Samaritan who witnessed the thieves bundling property onto a motorcycle.
Maate says that the thugs have been detained and are helping police with investigations to identify the gang that has been targeting other churches.
