Rotting bodies said to be that of a mother and her six months old baby have been found locked in a grass thatched house in Omoro district.
The deceased are 21-year-old Prossy Apiyo, 21 and her son, Jonathan Omoara, residents of Oluba village in Kal parish in Ongako Sub-County.
The decomposing bodies were discovered by residents on Thursday morning following days of a stinking smell and fussing flies emanating from underneath the closed door of the grass thatched house that belonged to the two victims.
Betty Lalam Kilama, the Ongako Sub-County Women Council Chairperson narrated that after breaking the door, she saw the lifeless body of the baby with the nipples of her mother in his mouth.
Augustine Labongonyinge, the Oluba Village LC I Chairperson says that the last time Apiyo was seen is on Tuesday morning while preparing lunch for workers molding bricks in their compound.
Residents, however, suspect the killer to be the husband to the deceased who they claim was spotted leaving their home late evening on the day of their disappearance. He has since run away
Labongonyinge, claims the couple was overwhelmed with unresolved family disputes that led to fighting and several appearances at the local council chambers for council.
The Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, Patrick Jimmy Okema expressed dismay over the incident. He said a team of detectives and Scene of Crime Officer were dispatched to study the crime scene.
