A suspected thief has been shot dead at a Hostel in Bugolobi, Nakawa Division. The unidentified suspect was shot dead on Friday morning at around 5:30 am at Landmark Hostel.

The Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesperson Luke Owesigirye said that at around 5:30 am three unknown thugs broke into  Land Mark Hostel in Nakawa, a hotel that mainly houses students of Makerere University Business School (MUBS) and used master keys to access rooms of the two female students who were deep asleep.

The thugs allegedly attempted to steal a laptop and four mobile phones from the rooms which were recovered at the scene of the crime .

Kenneth Lule, the acting custodian of the hostel says that a private guard attached to GKO Security Company, saw the suspects running away from the rooms and ordered them to stop but his advice fell on deaf ears as they continued running, in the process, he shot at one of them.

 

The other two suspects fled upon seeing the lifeless body of their colleague lying in cold blood.
Agun serial number UG POL 12084537 00236 belonging to the security guard which was damaged during the scuffle with the deceased was also recovered.
Oweysigyire says that Police at Bugolobi Police station acted following a tipoff from students at the hostel over an alleged shooting and immediately rushed to the scene.
He says that police are still looking for the two suspects who fled. The Hostel is guarded by private guards from GKO Security Company.
