President Yoweri Museveni has undergone screening for the deadly coronavirus upon his arrival at the Entebbe International Airport from Luanda Angola.

As part of the health ministry efforts to ward off the virus, Museveni was screened for familiar symptoms like flu, cough, fever, difficulty in breathing and running nose.

Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng recently said medical teams have been trained to handle the screening process to reduce the risk of transmission from persons jetting in who might be infected.

The Chinese government has accused the US of causing “panic” in its response to the deadly coronavirus outbreak.

It follows the US decision to declare a public health emergency and deny entry to foreign nationals who had visited China in the past two weeks.

There are more than 17,000 confirmed cases of the virus in China. Some 361 people have died there.

The ministry of health since late last month stepped up screening for the deadly coronavirus at Entebbe Airport.

The health ministry has advised the public to avoid direct contact with persons who exhibit signs of infection and regularly wash hands with soap and water and avoid contact.

Individuals are also advised against touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands and seek medical help if one suspects that they might be infected.
