Police in Rukungiri has launched a manhunt for a ruthless brother accused of brutally hacking his biological sister to death in a family land wrangle.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, says Allen Komuhangi, 30, a resident of Omwitaba cell, Ndere parish Ruhinda Sub County in Rukungiri district was hacked brutally hacked on Monday morning.
The prime suspect is the deceased’s brother, Cleophas Twinamatsiko, a businessman in Kampala who is currently on the run. It is alleged that the two have been fighting and threatening each other over the same piece of land for many years.
According to police, the deceased’s lifeless body was recovered at a banana plantation with several cuts to the head and neck, which police suspect the murderer used a sharp object to kill her.
The deceased’s aunt, Everline Kemishango, who also suspects Twinamatsiko says he made an appearance home the day before Komuhangi met her fate.
She says Twinamatsiko has always publicly threatened his married sisters to stay clear of the family land and focus on their marriages.
Kemishango explains that on that fateful day, the deceased had gone to work at the banana plantation alone about a kilometer from home when they got the news of her demise from school-going children who discovered the body in the plantation while on their way home for lunch.
She informed the police who visited the scene of the crime and rushed the body to the mortuary as investigations proceed.
