As one of the preventative measures to Covid-19 in Uganda, the Ministry of Health will embark on spraying all travelers and cargo with disinfectants as they enter the country.

According to the health ministry, all travelers and their luggage will be sprayed upon arrival from the Entebbe international airport.
Ruth Acheng the minister of health says the health minister will work with the civil aviation authority to ensure that all travelers are disinfected before anything else.

She notes that that new measures will ensure that whoever might have come into contact with the disease unknowingly are protected.

According to the health ministry, the disinfectant spray chemical being used is recommended by both the World Health Organisation and the US Food and Drug Administration. The health ministry, however, refused to reveal the identity of the spray.

The spraying method is already being used in China, Italy, South Korea and the United States.

The Ministry of Health continues to be on high alert, with messages being put across all available platforms on COVID-19 to the public on how to prevent the virus including regular handwashing, no handshakes, avoiding large gatherings, covering the nose and mouth when sneezing and coughing and self quarantining from home when unwell among others.

The Ministry of Health also recommends that people with flu-like symptoms and who are unwell should stay at home and not be allowed to access premises for mass gatherings.

In Africa, a total of 11 countries including Egypt, Algeria, Senegal, SouthAfrica, Burkinafaso, Morroco, Cameroon, Tunisia, Togo, DRC and Nigeria have all reported cases of the COVID -19 virus with over 100 people infected and 2 deaths recorded.

Globally over 118,000 infections have been reported with over 4,000 deaths
