Presidential aspirant Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde who was last week placed under Special Investigations Unit (SIU) headquarters in Kireka detention on treason charges is reportedly hospitalized at Kampala Hospital after collapsing.

On Friday last week, the police led by CID Director Grace Akullo, head of forensics Andrew Mubiru and head of political crimes Richard Mugwisagye, conducted a search on his premises in Kololo for evidence but recovered over 20 army uniforms and two guns.

During a press briefing last week, Police mouthpiece Fred Enanga noted that the charges are related to soliciting support from neighboring countries like Rwanda to overthrow this regime.

According to police, Tumukunde is also accused of making statements utterances on radio and television interviews meant to instigate inter-community violence.

It is alleged by a close family member that the former Security minister was rushed to hospital with a swollen leg on Sunday.

The family attributes the swollen leg to psychological torture he underwent while standing long hours and dehydration.

Tumukunde is reportedly under the close watch of  CMI operatives in the hospital with limited access to visitors.
