Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has demanded that the Uganda Medical Association (UMA) apologize for statements made to the press this morning alleging that she has recommended a quack US medical doctor who is ready to manufacture a coronavirus treatment vaccine.
On Monday 16th March 2020, the seemingly relieved Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga indicated to Parliament that a spray that instantly kills the virus being manufactured by Day international would be co-produced in Uganda and will be made available to the Ugandan market in two weeks.
She further informed the house that an American inventor, Prof. Safraz K. Niaz, who was in Uganda over the weekend invented the disinfectant and he is at the center of the Coronavirus response in the USA.
Kadaga explained that the disinfectant killer would be made available the offer to Uganda free of charge as promised by the speaker.
However, In a press briefing on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, Uganda Medical Association -(UMA) criticized the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga for declaring what they described as a ‘fake’ coronavirus treatment vaccine in Parliament on Monday.
Dr Richard Idro President of (UMA), noted that although several tests are being carried out worldwide, to this day there isn’t any confirmed medicine available on the market that would cure or act as vaccination for COVID -19.
The Speaker this afternoon at parliament assured MPs that she does not deal with quacks and said the doctors should have shared their concerns with her instead of resorting to a press conference.
She also noted that the Professor in question has assisted president Obama with the Obama health care, advisor to the FDA of America currently and made an offer to make medicines in Uganda.
