Galaxy Fm 100.2 Uganda’s leading urban youth station has indefinitely postponed its prestigious 8th edition of musical awards, the Zzina awards that were scheduled to happen on the 27th of March at the MTN Arena.
This comes after the largely famous speech by president Museveni banning all public gatherings for 30 days with no exception of social events that include music concerts, all ceremonies and co-operate events.
Every year Galaxy FM 100.2 gets to recognize and reward the most outstanding Ugandan talents like artists, producers, songwriters, comedians among others through the Zzina Awards.
Last month the Radio station launched the voting process that is conducted on this website.
Innocent Nahabwe the CEO Galaxy Fm and Zzina Awards says they are obligated to cancel the ceremony in accordance with the directive given by the president.
He, however, says the voting process for the nominees will continue on this website until an opportune date is communicated later.
Dr Nahabwe notes that they are in coordination with the sponsors of the event, MTN, and Movit and a new date will be made known in a while.
“The next frontline of fighting the virus is to stop the merry-making ─ the discos, the dances, bars, sports, music shows, cinemas, and concerts. These are very dangerous gathering points with the virus around” Museveni said.
President said these measures are being taken to deny the virus mass concentrations of Ugandans which poses a dangerous effect.
