Minister for Kampala Betty Amongi has warned those that are defying the closure of all entertainment spots in Kampala that they risk arrest and consequently having their licenses revoked.

Among says she has tasked KCCA law enforcement officers impose the c closure of all these places including bars, discos, music concerts, cinemas and all street markets as directed by President Museveni.

The minister informed the public that this lockdown applies to all bars and discos with no exception on luxury hotels in the metropolitan area like the Sheraton, Serena, Imperial hotels among others.

Amongi further explained that all street markets, weekly market, and roadside markets are banned from operating apart from those gazetted by the KCCA will be allowed to operate in the city.

On Thursday and Friday, KCCA enforcement officers and police engaged in running battles with bar owners and customers as they combed through various local pubs hidden in the outskirts of the city center.

Police also raided targetted market areas and dispersed large numbers of vendors who were operating.
