Ministry Of Health MOH has officially confirmed 5 more cases of the COVID-19 virus  bringing the total to 14 cases

Dr Henry G. Mwebesa the Director General Health Services at the MOH, has broken the news on Wednesday afternoon in a presser.

“As of today, 25 March 2020, there are 5 new confirmed cases for COVID-19 bringing the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the country to 14”.

One of the new cases is a 57-year-old man dealing in salt trade from Adjumani. Records show that this man has not traveled out of the country before but goes to the South-Sudan border of Elegu for business.

The positive cases of Covid-19 include 2 of the 6 Chinese that had escaped to Zombo, a 63-year-old man in Najjanankumbi,a 57year old Businessman dealing in salt at Elegu border admitted in Adumani hospital and an 8 months old Baby currently admitted at  Iganga hospital.

The baby presented with symptoms of Flu and shortness of breath and was rushed to the hospital by the father who had recently traveled back from Kisumu in Kenya.

The two Chinese who have been found positive with COVID-19 are part of the Six that escaped quarantine and tried to make their way to the Democratic Republic Of Congo. They were arrested, brought back and checked

1431 cases have completed their mandatory quarantine today-MOH, to date, a total of 2,661 travelers including Ugandans identified

1,230 are under follow up,764 are under institutional quarantine,466 are under self-quarantine.

“Following the declaration of the COVID-19 outbreak, we have increased the capacity of our call center to handle more calls at the same time effective today. Call center agents have been increased from 20 to 100 and will continue to work in shifts for 24 hours daily” Mwebesa said.

The ministry of health has also continued to call all passengers who traveled to Dubai to call on the toll-free numbers to ensure that they report to the Ministry of health officials for testing to avoid the spread of COVID 19 if infected.
