The Ministry of Health will on Wednesday, March 25th, 2020 brief the Media on the state of COVID-19.
The Director-General Health Services, Dr. Henry G. Mwebesa will address the media today at 1:30 pm to update the public on COVID-19 in Uganda.
According to unconfirmed reports, Uganda has registered five more cases of the virus.
The ministry of health on Monday confirmed eight new cases of Covid-19, bringing the total to nine. The eight cases were confirmed after testing 35 samples.
According to the Health minister Dr.Ruth Acheng, the new patients are all Ugandans who recently traveled to Dubai and returned.
Six of the eight cases were realized at the Entebbe Airport while two others were picked from their areas of self-quarantine.
Speaking to journalists in Kampala on Monday night, Health Acheng urged Ugandans to stay calm and maintain hygiene after confirming the new cases.
“All the eight cases are Ugandan nationals who traveled back from Dubai, United Arab Emirates; two on March 20 and six on March 22 aboard the Emirates and Ethiopian Airlines flights,” Aceng said.
She, however, noted that Dubai was not among the high-risk countries that the Ministry was scrutinizing.
The Ministry of Health has appealed to whoever has been in Dubai over the past two weeks to volunteer him or herself for tests.
Acheng said at least 2,661 travelers, including Ugandans, had been identified as potential risks and put either under self-quarantine or institutional quarantine.
