Government will go ahead to kick off its planned distribution of food relief to urban poor in the districts of Kampala and Wakiso.
President Yoweri Museveni announced earlier this week in his covid19 news conferences that cabinet had resolved to provide assistance to those affected by the lock down.
The Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda is expected to flag off the exercise at Bwaise with 15 trucks heading to Wakiso.

According to a statement from the premier Rugunda’s office: “Rt Hon PM will Launch movement of 15 loaded trucks to make deliveries to LC 1 Bwaise Distribution points infront of TV cameras along Nile Avenue on Saturday Morning at 9 am.”
LCs have been tasked with the chief burden of identifying their people.
“All LC 1 Chairpersons in the villages located in the slums of Kampala and Wakiso have been identified by name and telephone contact,” the statement added.
Government has moved ahead to guard the relief against contamination by bringing on board top packaging and food processing firms.
“Fully automated Industries only have been selected to pack the maize flour and beans to avoid human contamination. They include: (1) Mandela Millers , (2) Afro-Kai Industries , (3) Uganda Grain Millers Ltd, (4) Aponye (U) Ltd (5) SCOUL (Mehta) for sugar , and (6) Pearl Diary Farm Ltd (Lato Powder Milk) amongst others.”
