Retired Gen. Kasirye Gwanga was picked Tuesday from his home by security causing untold unrest among his family and friends.
General Gwanga is a veteran National Resistance Army who captured power along with Gen. President Yoweri Museveni in 1986.
The bubbly veteran Tuesday was reportedly picked from his home by security people and driven to Kampala.
UPDF, however, moved in quickly to quash the reports of arrest releasing a statement through the army mouthpiece Brigadier Richard Karemire.
Brigadier Karemire tweeted to clarify: “Maj Gen (Rtd) Kasirye Gwanga has been admitted to the UPDF Senior Officers Diagnostic Centre based in Mbuya.”
The army mouthpiece confirmed: “Doctors are taking care of him and there is no reason to speculate on his current whereabouts.”
He then quashed: “He is not under any form of arrest.”
