The Arch-Bishop of  the Church of Uganda Most Rev.  Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu  has asked the public to stay strong in the face of COVID-19 pandemic

Do not be afraid, even in the face of coronavirus, an imminent threat to the human race, the Archbishop told Christians on Good Friday afternoon during his national address ahead of Easter celebrations.

His message was drawn from the Biblical book of Mathew, where two accounts of Jesus’ resurrection used the same statement amid terrifying events of the day.

Most Rev Kazimba also urged security forces to be more gentle on the Public and desist from the use of brutal methods on several Ugandans while enforcing the presidential directives.

”Do not beat your fellow Ugandans as if they were animals, that’s not good at all” Kazimba said.

He, however, asked Ugandans to obey the directives by the government so they can defeat COVID-19.

He said that even during this extraordinary season, where lives have been significantly disrupted by the closures of churches, schools, businesses, and restrictions on movements there is a need to practice obedience.

Kaziimba also appealed to the government to increase the supply of protective gear like gloves and masks saying they need to stay healthy to confront the current crisis.
