A payroll officer Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA has been thrown behind police bars for spreading false Propaganda and Panic that Uganda had registered its first COVID 19 Death.

Adam Obec last week took to his various social media platforms and started circulating information that Uganda had recorded its first death in Koboko district, joining other countries within the East African Communities -EAC like Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda.

Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says Obec was tracked down and picked up from Mutungo, a suburb of Kampala.

Enanga says that such harmful information is very dangerous because it promotes unnecessary fear and anxiety.

According to Police Obec undermined the efforts of the Health Ministry and government to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

Uganda has so far recorded 54 cases of the COVID -19 pandemic with no death according to the Ministry of health.

The confirmed case is among the 169 people tested on Sunday by the Uganda Virus Research Institute-UVRI, according to the ministry of health.
