President Yoweri Museveni is yet to put his critics to silence by emphasizing the groups of people expected yo benefit from the current nationwide food distribution.
While addressing the nation on Tuesday afternoon, Museveni insisted that the relief will only apply to needy Ugandans who depend on the daily income for survival and not salary earners.
”Finally, on the issues of food support, it’s mainly for the groups depending on daily earnings, people in salons, bars, night clubs, garages, selling non-food items in markets, etc. People in the village have been growing their food, Corona has not stopped farming.”Museveni said
Museveni added that this initiative is not meant to alleviate poverty but momentarily support the vulnerable. He, therefore, asked those salary earners to wait till the end of the month for their earnings.
”If you were poor before corona but you were eating, you continue eating as you were before. We shall handle your poverty issues separately.”Museveni said
