Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda will only return Speaker Rebecca Kadaga’s contentious twenty million shillings if Ugandans ranting on social media send him 4 caterpillars.

Speaker Kadaga and legislators approved ten billion Shillings to facilitate them to monitor the activities of the  Covid-19 task force in their constituencies.

The public, however, are angry about the move and have petitioned President Yoweri Museveni, Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda and the Speaker.

The agitators mainly social media demand MPs return the money and it be channelled to the ministry of health to help facilitate medical workers battling the Covid-19 at the different hospitals in the country.

Appearing on the regular Capital Gang on Saturday, Ssemujju who represents the people of Kiira Municipality in the August House vowed to pick the money arguing he has mouthfuls to feed at the constituency.

In a high tone, the legislator a former journalist with the Daily Monitor and Observer recounted his moving tale to the listeners and his colleagues Abdu Katuntu, Ofwono Opondo and the moderator Oscar Semweya Musoke.

I think the work of an MP people want you to work without any money. Because all the time I have work at Monitor, Observer, I have been given airtime.

Parliament buys you a computer it is a story in the newspaper. Where I worked I was being given airtime to work. But this 20Million you will not find any problem in the constituency because I started distributing food on day one.

It is as if when Mr Museveni announced there will be a lock down, did he put a phrase ‘you go to Ssemujju for food?” I asked the first group and I did not know this things were going to be bad.

I am distributing food every single day. In my history as an MP, I have returned money twice. This particular one even if you bring a caterpillar and I want anyone to hear because me I don’t pretent. I hear hon. Zaake writing he wants to return.

I want to go and tell him to go and plead with him to me to give it to me. Because I have porridge centres, like 40 I have to feed. Because I have balance between morality and starvation, I have people I am feeding, pregnant women, and they hear because I want to be a populist is returning money.

Let me tell you, on this one you can bring four carterpillar. They haven’t given it to me but if they give it to me. I want to thank Kadaga and tell her that even 20 is not enough.

If the only job is to open and give people, I have been at Mandela. At one day Mandela closed and I had to go to Ofwono to give me maize from Nakifuma. Is this my job as an MP?

So what I am going through as an MP in an urban area, I have never gone through. So if there are MPs who want to return money, by the way the last time I returned money, I was in trouble.

We were only 14. Even those who returned money, they were on social media. They ended up not returning.
Some MPs are bad mannered for me when I say I am going to return I even present a receipt.

Therefore, this particular one is not even enough. I am even looking for Kadaga. First to thank her and tell her I want more.

If government feeds all those who are coming, I will. But even still I am incurring costs, which one then will I return? Ecueru wants me to come to his store. I have told him to come to my home. Even Nambooze is going through the same.

I am looking for MPs who want to return the money. If government feeds Kiira then I will return their money.
