Parliament is at war with the executive and judiciary!
Speaker Rebecca Kadaga addressed a news conference at Parliament on the continued attack of MPs by members of the public and media over the Shs10Bn Covid-19 facilitation.
President Yoweri Museveni in his national address on Tuesday night weighed in on the debate.
President Museveni blasted: “It is morally reprehensible for MPs to give themselves money for personal use when the country is in such a crisis; totally unacceptable to me and the NRM.”
He went on: “They have entered themselves into a trap and the best way out is to donate the money to the districts where they come from.”
Speaker Kadaga charged: “It’s clear Parliament is under attack from the Executive and Judiciary. We are going to take appropriate action on that.”
She blasted: “Appropriation is for Parliament, now a judge wants to do the work. We want to make it clear, MPs have been spending more.”
Kadaga pointed out: “I can tell you that personally I have spent over Shs200m on this Covid-19. Tomorrow we shall show the Secret Budgets we have been passing for Executive and Judiciary.”
The Speaker warned: “It is not only the MPs that received Covid-19 money. I want to appeal to the public and the media to follow up on those. Don’t concentrate on Parliament only.”
Democratic Party President Norbert Mao did not have kind words to legislators during weekly NBS TV Frontline show.
Mao said: “There is an African saying that a cook must lick their fingers after cooking. That is how I can explain the supplementary budget and the UGX 10 billion for MPs.”
Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi took aim at the Speaker: “Kadaga is struggling to kill a mosquito with a missile. We the citizens are under attack by this Parliament, Judiciary and the Executive. Just return the UGX10 Billion bribe. We have stopped imbibing your lies and games.”
