Lt General Henry Tumukunde has appeared before Buganda Road Magistrates Court this morning via video conferencing and complained about solitary confinement.

Tumukunde explained to the court presided over by City Hall Magistrate Valerian Tumuhimbise that this solitary confinement was affecting his psychic and physiological status.

Clad in his usual blue and white checked shirt the presidential contender and former security Minister told the court he was tired of wearing the same shirt he was jailed in, that he must maintain even at court sessions.

”you must be wondering why I am wearing only one shirt to all these sessions because its the only shirt I came with and it is the only shirt I must come with to court,” Tumukunde said

The General also asked the court to devise means for him to be able to access his family but most importantly to see his lawyers when he needs to access them.

He says currently he can not access either one of them.

He further told the court to consider his bail application since he has served this country diligently and is a senior citizen.

Tumuhimbise advised his lawyers to follow due process and get their client his bail in the capital offense considering he was denied at the High court.

The court also granted his Lawyers permission of 10 minutes to be able to access his lawyers.

On April 14, Justice Wilson Kwesiga dismissed his bail application on grounds that he needed to present at least two sureties, either at his rank of a Lieutenant General-Lt Gen or higher General.

The embattled Lt Gen Tumukunde has filed a fresh application to the high court asking for ease and relaxation on his bail terms after he failed to secure army generals to stand for him as directed by the court.

His lawyers led by Anthony Wameli and Geoffrey Turyamusiima filed an application asking High Court in Kampala to ease the conditions set for his bail.

The High Court has since fixed May 11th, 2020 for ruling on Tumukunde’s bail application.
