The contentious Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Eric Sakwa has been thrown out of office effective immediately.

In a notice to leave from Kakanda Yunus, Secretary in the Office of the President dated May 4, Sakwa has been ordered to handover office with immediate effect to the  Jinja district internal security officer on an interim basis.

Sakwa has not only been asked to hand over all government property in his possession to the  Jinja District Internal Security Officer- DISO but has also been banned from exiting Uganda. from leaving the country.

It reads “You are required to hand over any government property in your possession in accordance with the laid down procedure and regulations,”

It should be recalled that this RDC was in April jailed on charges of manslaughter alongside Bazimbyewa Bumali 19, a mechanic and Mohammed Simba, 31, and a businessman in Jinja

The prosecution alleges that Sakwa, 38, between March 22 and April 17, 2020, at Lwanda Village in Jinja District, unlawfully caused the death of Charles Isanga, a businessman in the area.

Following his manslaughter charge his salary deduction is subject to refund in case the suspension is lifted and charges are dropped.

Sakwa and his accomplices are also accused of breaking into the property of the deceased and stealing 3 crates of Soda worth Shs80,000, three crates of beer, eight trays of eggs, sachets of waragi, totaling to Shs429,000.

The trio was later released from prison and granted bail on the 30th of April 2020.
