A distressed 30-year old man in Kabale district decided to end his own life after failing to purchase a sachet of salt at shillings 1000 for his angry wife.
Denis Michael Owamani, a resident of Nyakabungo Village in Rwene parish in Buhara Sub County was found hanging on a rope in his tiny sitting room on Monday evening by his wife.
Before his demise, Owamani reportedly had a heated quarrel with his wife who threw tantrums at her husband accusing him of mistreating her by failing to afford salt.
The bitter woman reportedly stormed out of the house leaving Owamani with no other option than suicide.
Owamani was later discovered hanging on a rope at 7:20 PM by his irritated wife who run to Joseph Akampurira, the Nyakabungo Village LC I Chairperson, and informed him of the incident.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, says the wife first saw the deceased’s photo dumped on the door ground marked X. It is when she entered the house and found him hanging in the sitting room.
Maate says investigations are ongoing to establish what could have happened exactly vide file number SD REF 06/10/05/2020 at Kabale Central Police Station.
