Police in Kampala have on Monday morning foiled a protest staged by the loud-mouthed former Makerere University researcher Dr. Stella Nyanzi and the prominent events promoter Andrew Mukasa alias Bajjo in Kampala.

The duo alongside several of their accomplices was thrown behind police coolers at the Central Police Station -CPS by police who captured them at Buganda road while marching to the Office of the Prime Minister-OPM.

The protesting crew expressed bitterness with the mode of relief food distribution to the vulnerable groups in Kampala and Wakiso districts.

Prior to the protest this morning, Dr. Nyanzi took to social media, informing her following of intentions to demonstrate and encouraging them to join in with empty pots and saucepans.

It reads;“ I am marching today through Kampala city with my empty saucepans and my hungry children, in protest against the HUNGER PANDEMIC spreading all over Uganda during the Covid-19 lockdown.”

She further declared on that post that the protest would lead them to the OPM for a lunch date with Prime Minister Dr. Ruhukana Rugunda who is the chairperson for the National taskforce on COVID-19.

Music promoters Abby Musinguzi aka Abtex and Andrew Mukasa alias Bajjo were on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, arrested for still protesting  food distribution exercise in Kampala and Wakiso.

On Thursday, May 7 , they were arraigned before Buganda Road Court and charged with allegedly disobeying lawful orders set up by the president in a bid to contain the spread of Covid-19.
