The much anticipated COVID-19 televised address has been postponed to tomorrow Tuesday the 19th of May 2020 at 8 pm.

The 14th Presidential Address president Museveni on Covid-19 was earlier announced for today ahead of an end to the second 14-day extension on lockdown on Tuesday.

However, in a brief social media post on his Facebook page, the senior presidential press secretary Don Wanyama states that the famous address has been moved to tomorrow under unclear circumstances.

He simply apologized for the inconvenience caused without divulging further details for the changes.

”The 14th Presidential Address by His Excellency YK Museveni on Covid-19 which was slated for today has been moved to tomorrow, Tuesday 19th, at 8 pm. We regret any inconveniences, Wanyama wrote.”

This comes at a time when Ugandans are eagerly waiting for an announcement that would probably point in the direction on further ease of the lockdown from the president.

The public has also raised alarm and red flag on truck drivers who are responsible for the surge in numbers of COVID-19  infections in Uganda.

COVID -19 cases in Uganda have now hit 248 after the Ministry of Health announced 21 new infections on Monday morning.

Ministry of Health says the 21 cases are all Ugandan truck drivers,17 of new cases were identified at the Elegu border post while 3 were from Mutukula and one from Malaba entry point.

The results were out of 1071 samples of truck drivers tested on Sunday.

Also taken were 253 community samples that all returned free of COVID -19.
