President Museveni will on Tuesday 19th May 2020 address the nation for the 15th time, to make clear certain issues in regard to his previous address on COVID -19 lockdown.
Presidential press secretary Don Wanyama has posted on his social media handles indicating that the president will have a comeback speech to respond to comments from the public following his conclusions on Monday night.
It reads; ”After receiving lots of feedback from the public on his address last evening, President Museveni will today, Tuesday, at 8 pm, hold a televised address to respond to some of the issues”.Wanyama wrote
President Museveni on Monday extended the lockdown for another 2 weeks to allow for the Uganda Nytil factory to manufacture recommended standard facemasks which are a requirement for all once it is lifted.
This came after he announced a partial easing of COVID-19 lockdown that he pinned to the compulsory wearing of face masks.
Museveni’s address on Monday evening preceded a cabinet meeting that discussed the proposals presented by the health minister Dr. Jane Acheng on behalf of the national task force before informing their decision.
Therefore, Ugandans must wait until June 2nd when the required masks are hopefully already distributed to all persons of 6years and above countrywide before the public&private transport, re-opening of schools for only candidate classes, and shops selling general merchandise can resume.
The 7 PM to 6:30 am curfew, and border district public transportation was also left intact for another 21 days as well as other restrictions outside those that he explicitly mentioned.
