Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has received a call from Ugandan musician Eddy Kenzo requesting her to help him return home.

Eddy Kenzo is holed in Ivory Coast capital Abidjan where he went for a performance before being locked out following President Yoweri Museveni’s directive.

Kadaga told Parliament: “I received a phone call today from @eddykenzoficial who is stuck in Cote d’Ivoire where he had gone to perform. The lockdown found him out of the country. He is in dire straits. He has spent whatever he had. He’s unable to come home because the flights are not available.”

The Speaker urged government: “I call upon the Ministry of Foreign Affairs @mofaug, working through our Mission in #Abuja to offer him consular services so that he can be assisted to return home; but to also meet his bills.

Kadaga assured Parliament she will discuss the matter with head of state.

She said: “I will be informing H.E. @KagutaMuseveni about this matter so that he can be assisted. For him its even worse because he is in a French speaking country. Life is not as easy as it would be if he was in an English-speaking country where he could talk with people and get assistance.”
