Uganda’s Covid-19 cases have risen by 31 as jam returned to Kampala roads.

Ministry of health last night confirmed 31 new cases taking the country’s total Covid-19 cases to 253.

Officials revealed to Galaxy FM that 23 new cases are from the Points of Entry while 8 new cases are contacts to previously confirmed truck drivers.

The ministry noted that the contacts were under quarantine at the time of test.

Officials also confirmed 20 positive foreign truck drivers (16 Tanzanians and 4 Kenyans) were handed over to their country of origin.

n a positive note, the ministry announced 69 recoveries of Covid-19 in the various hospitals in the country.

Tests according to the officials at Points of Entry were 896 and 220 from community and contacts.

The total samples tested last night were 1,116.

Meanwhile President Yoweri Museveni’s easing of lock down had private cars return to the roads.

The roads were jammed and police had many sleep in cells for defaulting on curfew regulations.
