Following the presidential directive to release Public transport on Thursday, June 4, 2020, the Kampala Taxi Operators Association -KOTSA has released new taxi fares revised upwards for Kampala metropolitan and surrounding areas.

President Museveni on Monday night reiterated his earlier statement giving room for public transport to resume operations.

The president said this would be on condition that they carry only half of the usual capacity including the driver and the conductor and follow Standard Operating Procedures -SOPs given by Kampala Capital City Authority -KCCA.

KOTSA attributes the increased fares to the half passenger capacity policy issued by Government noting that failure to adjust would mean operating under losses.

So that begs the question of how many Ugandans will manage to cope with the new system after spending two solid months under lockdown.
