A statement released on Friday morning from the Ministry of Health has confirmed an increase in COVID 19 infections to 557 with community cases from over 8 districts.

The health ministry has announced another new 35 cases of Ugandans from 2267 samples tested on 4th June 2020.

They include 15 truck drivers who entered the country using the  7 entry points of Uganda and 20 persons who are contacts to previously confirmed cases.

Among the confirmed community cases 7 from Kampala,1 Wakiso, 5  Amuru, 3 Mayuge, 2  Kyotera, 1 Dokolo, and 1 from Amudat Districts.

Also, 31 positive truck drivers have been sent back to their country of origin.

Those from the border points are 2  truck drivers from Busia, 3  Malaba, 2 security officers from Elegu Border, and one security personnel from Ngomokoma Gulu District.

The Health Minister, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng says all the cases were in quarantine at the time of the test.
