The ministry of health-MOH has set aside 167.3 million shillings to commence mass vaccination against Cholera in Moroto on Monday next week.

A situation report released on Tuesday by Phillip Lotee, the in-charge Loputuk Health Centre III where the patients are being treated and admitted indicates that a total of 305 out of the 322 cases have recovered since May 11.

05 deaths have been recorded so far in the district.

The Ministry of Health has partnered with the World Health organization-WHO to procure and distribute oral vaccines.

The WHO consultant and Disease control officer and Head of Karamoja Sub Office, says they will move door to door administering the vaccination to avoid public gatherings as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He says this vaccine is supplementary to the on-going treatment at the isolated center in Loputuk, Nadunget Sub County.

Currently, health workers and Village Health Teams VHTs are being trained on how to administer the vaccine.

Locals in the Moroto district continue to defecate in the open spaces despite a surge in the numbers of Cholera infections.

The waterborne disease that broke out early April has affected 25 villages and eight parishes.
