Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has on Thursday appointed Doreen Nyanjura as this deputy replacing Sarah Kanyike.

This comes after the controversial lord mayor  Lukwago gave a 3-day ultimatum to his former deputy Kanyike to declare her position on being appointed the director gender, community service, and production at Kampala Capital City Authority- KCCA.

Lukwago had wanted Kanyike to reject her new appointment.

However,Kanyike who was appointed by the president declined to respond to Lukwago’s demands and resigned on Thursday morning prompting him to declare Doreen Nyanjura as the deputy mayor.

Kanyike a councilor representing Makindye East and was appointed by Lukwago in 2016 to deputize him.

The KCCA Act allows for the Lord Mayor to appoint his deputy which is obviously approved by the council.

Nyanjura serves as the elected Local Council 5 (LCV) Woman Councillor, representing Makerere University at KCCA since 2016 and as the Executive Secretary in Charge of Finance.

Lukwago also appointed Moses Kataabu, the councilor Kampala Central Division to replace Doreen Nyanjura.

The two appointees are slated to appear before the KCCA Council for approval on Monday, June 22, 2020, when the Council convenes.
