Police in Kampala has arrested at least 7 people out of 10 suspects in connection to the murder of  Emmanuel Tegu the third-year veterinary student of Makerere University and Son to a sergeant.

Tegu was reportedly clobbered by a gang of persons inside the University at night on June 28 on his way to church.

Fred Enanga the police mouthpiece says police have CCTV footage showing how the deceased was violent towards police patrol team by pelting stones after he was found half-naked at Makerere University.

Enanga says they suspect his mental health condition -bipolar that they suspect could have escalated his reaction to police.

Enanga says Tegu started chasing the officers while throwing stones at them as he headed towards St, Agustine church alerting a mob within that pounced on him beating him into a comma. The mob allegedly mistook him for a thief.

The police came to his rescue and rushed him to hospital but he was pronounced dead on the 3rd of July at Mulago Hospital where he had been admitted.

Enanga says police are awaiting a post-mortem report to establish whether the victim died as a result of the multiple wounds he sustained.

Enanga says as police continue investigating, 7 suspects in police custody that were sighted at the scene when the victim was being clobbered have been picked up by police.

Also, evidence has been collected in that regard, these include CCTV footage, chairs, and witness accounts from the neighbors among others.
