A group of unknown assassins is on the run after brutally ending the life of Uganda People’s Defense Forces-UPDF soldier before stealing his firearm in the Mubende district.
Security operatives launched a hunt for the criminal gang on Wednesday, following an attack on Corporal Godfrey Turyaheebwa attached to the Mubende Military Rehabilitation Center.
Turyaheebwa was attacked from inside the barracks on Tuesday and hit severely with a blunt object and left for the dead.
He was later found by good Samaritans who rushed him to Mubende Regional Referral hospital where he was pronounced dead on Wednesday night.
Mubende Resident District Commissioner-RDC, Mary Nyakwera Baguma who doubles as the District Security Committee Chairperson, says the loss of Turyahebwa is a big loss.
She says since the deceased was attacked from inside the barracks the public needs to be extra vigilant and maintain curfew time as being out beyond 7 pm is dangerous.
