Former Leader of Opposition in Parliament Winnie Kiiza will not return to Parliament.

Kiiza who has served the people of Kasese Municipality for 15 years announced Tuesday in Kampala, she is not offering herself for another term.

While addressing the media in Kampala, she said: “With that being said, I wish to inform you of my decision to not seek re-election for the Kasese District Woman Representative seat in the forthcoming general election.”

Kiiza stated: “I can only feel successful if I participate in the election of my successor because we can shape the destiny of our community.”

She hailed: “I am grateful to the people of Kasese district for placing their trust in me and according to me the privilege to serve them and our country at large.”

“I have much respect for all individuals, groups, organisations and institutions that support all of my efforts, and it’s my humble prayer that you be rewarded.”

Kiiza went on: “In a special way, I thank my lovely husband Hon. Bwambale Yokasi Bihande, family and friends for the support all through this journey.”

She revealed: “As I am about to take leave, I want to give assurance that I will continue holding on to the struggle for good governance, human dignity, equality and justice.”
