A 17-year-old girl in Kiswaza village, Kiziramfumbi, Kikuube district has accused a man of defiling her.
The suspect identified as 21-year-old Tugume Jonah a resident of Kiswaza village has been detained at police cells as police process him on charges of aggravated defilement.
Tugume who is self -employed reportedly been defiling the victim at his house for a long time before she reported him.
Angry residents threatened to lynch him but he was rescued by police officers who rushed him to the police post.
Police mouthpiece Fred Enanga says when the 17-year-old juvenile was subjected to medical tests for HIV, her results returned positive.
Enanga condemned the act expressed disappointment that such incidents are reported a little too late. He has advised parents to be vigilant and keep a watchful eye on their children to avoid such occurrences.
According to the Penal Code (Amendment) Act, 2007 , any person who performs a sexual act with another person who is below the age of eighteen years in any of the circumstances specified in subsection (4) commits a felony called aggravated defilement and is, on conviction by the High Court, liable to suffer death.
