A 23-year Makerere university student who resides in Rukungiri district who was battered into a coma by two people has succumbed to his injuries.

Moses Ahumuza, was doing a Bachelors of Commerce at Makerere University.

Ahumuza was waylaid by two friends armed with sticks at Nyamakukuru trading centre on Sunday where he was beaten to a pulp.

At the time he attacked Ahumuza managed to sound an alarm that attracted the attention of area residents but they arrived to his rescue when he was already unconscious.

Ahumuza was rushed half dead to Kisiizu hospital with heavy injuries he had sustained to his head, stomach, and back, he was later pronounced dead on Monday

The police in Rukungiri is holding the two suspects in the police coolers on charges of murder.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional police agent says the suspects identified as Trust Muramura, 18, and Beatrice Tumwine have been arrested in connection to the murder and will be prosecuted in courts of law for murder.
