After 3 days of a temporary lockdown at the Uganda police head offices and the National security command center at Naguru, Kampala, the office has finally resumed operations on Thursday.
The offices were closed off on Monday to give room for decontamination and fumigation to be done as a way of containing the spread of COVID-19.
The process that began on Monday this week also involved mandatory testing of all police officers working at both the headquarters and the CCTV national command center as a precautionary measure.
This comes after two police officers including the chief political commissar of the Uganda Police Force Asan Kasingye tested positive for Covid-19.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says the ministry of health has confirmed that their offices are now safe for occupation.
He adds that the police health unit together with the ministry of health officials has managed to trace all their contacts.
As of now, police officers will now be required to carry Covid-19 test certificates before entering the police offices.
Enanga says they will also be expected to adhere to all Covid-19 ministry of health guidelines like wearing of facemasks, social distancing, sanitizing or washing hands with soap and water, among others.
Enanga says the ministry of health has confirmed that their offices are now safe for occupation.
