Tentative Polling Results at Ssendi voting Center show Rubaga North MP Aspirant, Lands Minister- Betty Kamya at an early lead with 207 votes against her main rival Tindyebwa Brian who has only 13 at Ssendi Polling station- Kitunzi

Kamya who couldn’t hide her excitement, almost went on her knees to thank the people of Kitunzi, She heaped praises and promises of her undying love for the people of kitunzi.

Nalwoga Deborah who is the presiding officer at SSendi polling stations announced the provincial results to an excited crowd that constituted mostly of Kamya’s supporters.

Kamya is competing with two other candidates Brian Tindyebwa and Dr Lwanga Isaac. At her polling station, Kamya garnered 207 votes against Tindyebwa’s 13 votes. Lwanga who didn’t even have an agent got zero votes.

Nalwoga however cited a mishap in the woman central MP elections that failed to happen as a result of lack of agents.

According to the guidelines issued by the NRM Electoral Commission, voters are supposed to first vote for woman MP before the constituency MP.

‘’We don’t know them; they didn’t come to ask for our votes so why should we vote for them?’’ they shouted as the presiding officer Deborah Nalwoga tried to tell them to vote. She eventually yielded and proceeded with Kamya’s election.

Voting is still going on in some polling stations like Lugala where candidate Tindyebwa is voting from.

At this polling station unlike those this reporter has visited, there is build-up of security with over 20 police and LDU personnel deployed. All armed with AK 47 assault rifles. Many NRM supporters here are complaining that their names are not on the register.
