Police in Rukungiri district is investigating circumstances under which a 26year old woman’s lifeless body was discovered in her rental apartment in Kebisoni town council.
The deceased, Susan Ayebazibwe was a resident of Kitunga village Kabingo Parish Buhunga Sub County in Rukungiri district.
Ayebazibwe’s neighbor Mercy Asiimwe says she discovered the corpse when she went to check on her but found the door locked and attempts to call her on phone were futile as her phone went unanswered.
Asiimwe says she decided to call Amon who was reportedly absent from home but he managed to show up and broke the door but run away after that.
2Ayebazibwe‘s body was burnt and locals suspect that Amon could have killed her before silently running away.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesman says Ayebazibwe had been renting the same room with her boyfriend only identified as Amon.
Maate adds that police investigations indicate that the two were last seen together on Saturday evening on September 5th 2020.
Maate added that Police did a postmortem and efforts are underway to hunt down the suspect who is currently on the run.
The case has since been registered at Rukungiri Central Police Station vide CRB 1662/2020.
