The race for lord mayorship for Kampala on the National Unity Platform-NUP ticket is getting tight between the Kawempe North MP Latif Sebagala and local musician Joseph Mayanja aka Chameleon.

Today Latif Sebagala appeared before the vetting committee of the NUP at the head offices in Kamwokya after declaring his stance to compete against chameleon for the position.

Sebagala says he is the best candidate for that position because his manifesto is pro-people.

He explained that he would use his term in office to address issues of poor drainage systems, Taxes especially the property tax, issues affecting Public transport operators like Taxis and Boda Bodas, local business operators, and sports among others.

Meanwhile his contender for lord mayorship, Chameleone will also appear before the vetting committee at Kamwokya today.

Chameleone was reportedly summoned for vetting today before 12 pm and he confirmed his appearance.

Besides the NUP several parties have already fronted their candidates to compete in the race for lord mayorship including the Incumbent Erias Lukwago on FDC ticket, Daniel Kazibwe aka Ragga dee NRM, Kampala woman Mp Nabilah Naggayi, independent and businesswoman Beatrice Kayanga on Dp ticket.
