Police in Mukono is hunting for 2 of 3 suspected goons for stabbing to death a driver of a special hire vehicle UAY 765H Toyota Premio white in color after hiring him at 3 pm on Wednesday.

The deceased Batte Christopher, 58, a resident of Nyenje was reportedly approached by the assailants in Seeta Township to transport them to Bajjo Village between 3 pm and 6 pm.

Kampala metropolitan deputy police mouthpiece Asp Luke Owoyesigyire says when they reached Bajjo village, the goons immediately attacked Batte, stabbing him five times on the head and three times on the right hand.

Owoyesigyire says they later bundled the bleeding lifeless body into the boot of the vehicle and fled off, however, the vehicle got stuck in the process of fleeing which prompted them to ask for help.

He says the residents soon realized blood flowing out of the trunk and decided to open it after demanding for answers in vain.

When they discovered a dead body behind the trunk, they mobbed the suspects badly injuring one while the two escaped.

”On opening the car trunk, the body was discovered and immediately mob attacked the suspects injuring one while two escaped in the confusion (a man and a woman),” Owoyesigyire explained.

Owoyesigirye police arrived on time and stopped the angry crowd from mobbing the goons and upon searching the vehicle, a knife and rope were recovered in the vehicle.

”the vehicle was also damaged in process of the mob action, One male suspect was rescued and rushed to CPR medical Centre in Mukono town for treatment pending interrogation,” Owoyesigirye added

He says Police is still hunting for the suspects, meanwhile, the body has been taken Mulago for postmortem.
